In this text, this academic explains that in Gabon, after the 50-years butchering by the Bongos, there is almost nothing today that is Republican. At all levels, the Bongos have set up a system whose purpose is simple: they must be the absolute masters of the country!
The Bongos have brought all the administrations and political and economic institutions to a standstill. They have erected a strictly vertical system of which they are at the top and the rest of the Gabonese below. The country is centralized to the extreme and it functions as in the Middle Ages, where the entire administration and institutions are the Bongos fiefdoms that are there to serve the king and monitor the people.
During the electoral period, all this machinery is put at the service of the King, because the latter must be elected. In state institutions, such as the security services and many administrations, the staff are brought together and told: "You have to vote. No need to tell you for whom." In each region, the King asks the authorities on the ground to guarantee him a comfortable score in the elections. The state media, in a dictatorial logic, speak only of the activities of the King and his regime.
Ali Bongo promises to implement substantive reforms that would be necessary for the modernization of the country; that is to say for example to disengage the State from the economy, to make justice more independent and fair. But the problem is that these reforms will never happen, because Ali Bongo and his clan are afraid that this will destroy the system they have put in place and from which they benefit so much. They cannot afford this trauma.
Can our electoralists contradict this analysis? We think not!

Dans ce texte, cet universitaire nous explique que du Gabon, après le dépeçage de 50 ans effectué par les Bongo, il ne reste presque rien aujourd'hui de républicain. A tous les niveaux, les Bongo ont mis en place un système dont la finalité est simple : ils doivent être les maitres absolus du pays !
Les Bongo ont mis au pas toutes les administrations et institutions politiques et économiques. Ils ont érigé un système strictement vertical dont ils sont au sommet et le reste des Gabonais en dessous. Le pays est centralisé à l'extrême et le pays fonctionne comme au Moyen Âge, ou toute l’administration et institutions sont des féodaux des Bongo placés là pour servir le roi et surveiller le peuple.
En période électorale, toute cette machinerie se met au service du Roi, car ce dernier doit être élu. Dans les institutions d'Etat, comme les services de sécurité et de nombreuse administrations, on réunit le personnel et on leur dit: « il faut que vous alliez voter. Pas besoin de vous dire pour qui.» Dans chaque région, le Roi demande aux autorités sur place de lui garantir, un score confortable aux élections. Les media d’Etat, en toute logique dictatoriale, ne parlent que des activités du Roi et de son régime.
Ali Bongo promet faire des réformes de fond qui seraient nécessaires à la modernisation du pays ; c’est-à-dire de par exemple désengager l'Etat de l'économie, de rendre la justice plus indépendante et équitable. Mais le problème est que ces réformes ne se feront jamais, car Ali Bongo et son clan ont peur que cela ne détruise le système qu’ils ont mis en place et qui leur rapporte tant. Ils ne peuvent se permettre ce traumatisme.
Nos électoralistes peuvent-ils contredire cette analyse ? Nous pensons que non !
